Welcome to the Circle of Friends Humane Society!

Thanks for visiting! The Circle of Friends Humane Society gives pets of all kinds a second chance for a permanent, loving home. It’s the second chance they all deserve.

Our Mission Statement

  • To shelter and care for lost and unwanted animals
  • To place animals into humane environments
  • To implement programs that increase everyone’s awareness of their responsibilities to all animals

But we can’t do it alone. The responsibility for lost, unwanted animals rests with us all. That responsibility includes:

  • Adopting shelter pets
  • Learning about the responsibilities of committed pet ownership
  • Teaching children respect for all creatures
  • Reporting animal neglect/abuse to local law enforcement officials
  • Contacting legislators and encouraging them to pass more protective humane treatment laws

We are all entrusted with the protection of those unable to care for themselves, human and non-human alike.

Making Room for Charitable Donations in a Tight Budget

It’s been scientifically proven that making donations to nonprofits gives you a big mental boost. But when you’re trying to pay rent, student loans and other bills, the thought of including charitable donations in your budget can seem impossible. Where there are other fantastic ways to give back to your community (volunteering time, using your crafting skills and donating your creations, etc.) you don’t have to give up on the idea of making monetary contributions. These ideas will help you make donations within your tight budget:

Take a look at your current budget. There might be an area where you’re spending more than you think you are (or need to). When you make donations a priority in your budget like you do electricity bills, you’re more likely to make contributions on a regular basis.

Decide on how much and how often you want to donate. Do you want to give small amounts monthly? Or do you want to save up for a year and make a big donation to a special cause? The right amount is the amount that you feel comfortable giving, whether that’s 10% of your income or $10.

Get friends and family involved. There are several charity activities that you can do that will give your friends and family an opportunity to support you and the nonprofit of your choice. Run a 5K or request that your birthday gifts come in the form of donations to your favorite charity.

Find gift-matching programs. Talk to the human resources department to see if there’s a charitable gift-matching program in place. If so, that’s a great way to increase your donation without blowing your budget.

Do some research. There are countless fantastic programs and websites that allow you to raise money for charity simply by doing something like using an app while you shop. By getting involved, you can make a great contribution through your weekly errands.
